Dave is wrong.

He just doesn’t know it yet.

And it’s not even 17 minutes long. So get listening! Continue reading “Dave Is Wrong About THE WALKING DEAD: A Short Podcast”

DISASTCAST: The Disaster Movie Final Cut Podcast

twister-helen-hunt-and-bill-paxton

2012Armageddon, ContagionDante’s PeakThe Day After TomorrowThe HappeningThe ImpossibleSan AndreasTitanic, and Twister. What do these movies have in common? Besides “Night Light Operator” Ron Kunecke (don’t look this up, it’s a joke)?

They are disaster movies. The lowest form of popcorn entertainment delivers the highest enjoyment factor and the most breathless thrills. These are the biggest movies you’ll ever see and they always belong smack dab in the middle of your Summer blockbuster line-up.

Dave is joined by Alex Reynolds and Nick Shine to go through their selection of disaster movies and rank them for this week’s Final Cut Podcast! Continue reading “DISASTCAST: The Disaster Movie Final Cut Podcast”

THE UNCANNY X-CAST: The X-Men Final Cut Podcast

xmen01

The modern age of superhero films has been fairly easy to track. Sam Raimi’s SPIDER-MAN was the opening of the floodgates, Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT was proof it could be more than popcorn fun, and Joss Whedon’s THE AVENGERS gave us the pinnacle of a comic book come to life. It’s been a glorious decade and a half.

But it all truly began with Bryan Singer’s X-MEN in 2000.

NaNaNaNaNa… BATCAST!: The Batman Final Cut Podcast

Market Wallpapers

Every major movie franchise has it’s highs and lows. That’s just how they work. You make a couple of fun movies and then you make a stinker. You learn from that stinker, course correct, and get your franchise back on track. The BATMAN franchise is probably the best representation of this. They have made classics, duds, crowd-pleasers, and depressingly bleak ruminations on what it means to be a sad, angry man.

Dave is joined by Alex Reynolds and Nick Shine to go through every theatrically released Batman movie and rank them for this week’s Final Cut Podcast!

WRIGHTEOUS KILL: The Edgar Wright Final Cut Podcast

Scott_Power_Of_Love

After doing “Final Cut” podcasts on Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino, the Filmthusiast Podcast turns it’s focus to a director with a somewhat more limited filmography: Edgar Wright. The small number of directorial efforts is in no way a reflection of the quality of his work.

Quite the opposite.

This is one of the more difficult rankings that we have had to do.

Check it out… Continue reading “WRIGHTEOUS KILL: The Edgar Wright Final Cut Podcast”

VIOLET SHOWERS: The 1st Secret Screening Podcast

We thought we would try something different for you this week.

Lately, most of out podcasts have revolved around ranking the movies of a franchise, a director, or simply pitting two big movies against one another. We love doing that and think that they make for great podcasts. But that can’t be the only trick up our sleeve. Continue reading “VIOLET SHOWERS: The 1st Secret Screening Podcast”

LORD OF THE RANKS: The Middle Earth Final Cut Podcast

16773_the_lord_of_the_rings

Everyone loves talking about “the trilogies.” We have STAR WARS, BOURNE, THE GODFATHER, BATMAN, and many others. One of the best trilogies ever made was THE LORD OF THE RINGS. It had everything that you could possibly ever want out of a movie series.

Therefore, it felt like the right thing to do to pit these amazing movies against each other in a Final Cut podcast. A prequel trilogy was also made… That is discussed as well.

Dave is joined by Filmthusiast newbies Wyatt Weber & Alex Reynolds, the latter of whom has a Middle Earth themed play coming out VERY soon. You can read all about that here.
