Casting Corner: THE BATMAN

Welcome to the Casting Corner! Here we help out the casting directors of the world by picking and choosing the best performers for movies that have yet to be cast.

This week we have the cast for the new Affleck directed THE BATMAN.

You know it’s coming. We know it’s coming. It will have Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and very likely appearances from Jared Leto & Margot Robbie as The Joker & Harley Quinn.

Let’s see who else they could cast… Continue reading “Casting Corner: THE BATMAN”

2016: The Halfway Mark

It is now July and that means that we are halfway through 2016.

Which also means that we are halfway through the “summer movie season”, which typically spans from May to August. While the delightful Finding Dory has just come out and we are hopeful for the one-two-three punch of Ghostbusters, Star Trek Beyond, and Jason Bourne… It hasn’t been the greatest summer for movies.

That doesn’t mean that this year has had some bright spots. There have been six movies in particular that have taken our breath away. There are also six more that I think could take that breath away again.

Let’s take a look! Continue reading “2016: The Halfway Mark”

Summer Movie Preview: June

June of 2016 has a huge act to follow as last year brought us JURASSIC WORLD in June and it became one of the highest grossing films of all time breaking many records on the way getting there. I don’t see any film that will be able to even come close to its performance, but this June has a couple of films that have potential to be big hits.

Summer Box Office Preview: May

The Summer Movie Season begins in May and runs through August where May tends to be the strongest month of them all. When it comes to May films, you can always depend on a Marvel film to start us off (they’ve had a film open the first weekend of May starting back in 2008 when Iron Man first premiered) and any of the films opening during Memorial Day Weekend will bring in big money. Let’s take a look at what will be the biggest hit of the month, what films will succeed, what will fail, and what can go either way.

The Movies & Me

I think a lot about movies. If you read this website with any sort of regularity, follow me on Facebook/Twitter, or just know me in general you know this to be a very true statement. For the entirety of my life I have dedicated an enormous amount of thought, dedication, and passion to the art of cinema.

Why? Continue reading “The Movies & Me”

The End of Innocence: A BATMAN V SUPERMAN Review

“That’s how it starts. The fever… the rage… the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men cruel.” – Alfred

I watched all 151 minutes of BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE last night. I’ve thought about the movie. I’ve processed it. It’s entered my system and now I will attempt to flush it out of me like a poorly cooked meal in an attempt to keep it from turning me violently ill.

We will start this off spoiler-free and then I’ll throw up a big, old spoiler warning when we head into that neck of the woods.

Here we go.
