Back in February, Filmthusiast ran a casting wishlist for the new Spider-Man movie. There were some cool names on that list.

The third person on that list, after the already cast Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei, was Bookeem Woodbine. He was coming off of an incredible turn on the second season of Fargo. I suggested that he would be an incredible Kraven the Hunter.

Today it has been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter that Woodbine HAS joined Spider-Man: Homecoming and he IS playing a villain.

Holy cow!

It is unlikely that Woodbine will be playing Kraven. Michael Keaton is playing the main villain, who seems to be The Vulture, and it would be a bit of a letdown to see Kraven introduced and not given the full treatment he deserves. Regardless, it is still incredibly cool to see that he has joined the expanding, impressive cast.

They have also added Michael Mando (who was terrific in this season of Better Call Saul), Abraham Atta (who was incredible in Beasts of No Nation), and Hannibal Buress (who, let’s be honest, is flat-out fantastic in everything he does).

So, for those keeping score at home, this movie features Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Martin Starr, Zendaya, Logan Marshall-Green, Kenneth Choi, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, Michael Mando, Abraham Atta, Hannibal Buress, and Bookeem Woodbine.

That is one hell of a cast.

Hopefully we find out who they are all playing before the movie’s release on July 7th, 2017!
