She’s been to 21 JUMP STREET, played cards with THE GAMBLER, sat court-side to SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, and busted out of a ROOM.
Now Brie Larson has her sights set on something Marvelous.
The internet, as always, immediately split into two camps on this. Some cite Larson as too young for the role (she is 27) while preferring a more established action icon like Charlize Theron or Katee Sackhoff (who, come on, was never going to get the role). Others, like the author of this article, think she is the perfect fit for the role. This is an Oscar-winning actress who has proven time and time again that she is the real deal. She will even have a chance to show her action bonafides in next year’s KONG: SKULL ISLAND.
I would be beyond thrilled if she got to suit up as CAPTAIN MARVEL.
Interestingly, the Hollywood Reporter piece on this has Marvel circling director’s Jennifer Kent (THE BABADOOK) and Niki Caro (MCFARLAND, USA). Either one of these choices would be terrific. I was secretly hoping that Marvel would rope up OBVIOUS CHILD’s Gillian Robespierre. She seems like she would have been a perfect fit for the Marvel family!
CAPTAIN MARVEL is set for release on March 8th, 2019.
Whoa, that’s far away.
