Everyone loves trailers. That is just a fact of life. We need oxygen to breathe, taxes are a constant, and new trailers for cool movies gets our blood pumping. It’s Thursday, so we’ve got some new trailers for you!
Let’s get started:
First we have the trailer for ASSASSIN’S CREED. This is a movie based on a popular video game franchise that has a great basic concept, but a whole bunch of convoluted backstory. The movie looks interesting. Not sure about the music they chose, but the imagery is certainly very striking. I’m cautiously optimistic that this could be the first decent adaptation of a video game. The pieces are certainly there.
Next we have Ang Lee’s BILLY LYNN’S LONG HALFTIME WALK. Despite the annoying title, this actually looks pretty interesting. Lee is using cutting edge technology on this one to show the film in an unprecedented high frame rate. The trailer looks good. The cast varies from the kind of people you would expect in something like this (Garrett Hedlund & Kristen Stewart) to people I’m genuinely fascinated to see in this (Steve Martin & Vin Diesel). I hope the movie is worth the efforts and the time of it’s exceptional cast.
Lastly we have the trailer for the third installment of the “Needless Robert Langdon” Trilogy. Seriously. This is the third time that Tom Hanks and Ron Howard have teamed for an adaptation of a Dan Brown/Robert Langdon book. The first one, THE DA VINCI CODE, was downright awful in my opinion. I didn’t even bother with ANGELS & DEMONS, despite liking that book more than THE DA VINCI CODE. This new one looks pretty “by-the-numbers” as well. The only things piquing my interest are the inclusion of Felicity Jones and Ben Foster, two actors that I can never bring myself to ignore.
What do you think?
