Welcome to the Casting Corner! Here we help out the casting directors of the world by picking and choosing the best performers for movies that have yet to be cast.

This week we have the cast for the newest reboot of SPIDER-MAN!

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are gearing up for yet another reboot of the webslinger.  He and his Aunt May have already been cast, but who else could show up in the new version of this franchise?

Let’s take a look…

SPIDER-MAN/PETER PARKER: Tom Holland

Tom Holland

He’s already been cast. This is our new Spider-Man!

AUNT MAY: Marisa Tomei

KRAVEN THE HUNTER: Bokeem Woodbine

Woodbine was the biggest standout from the most recent season of FARGO. He was enormously charismatic and mysterious while also handling some incredibly dense dialogue. Having Kraven be another ruthless, but extremely inquisitive and intelligent, killer would be a great take on the character. He is looking for life’s next great challenge. That challenge comes in the form of Spider-Man.

BLACK CAT/FELICIA HARDY: Riley Keough

After turning a ton of heads in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, Keough is due for a big star-making role and I think that Black Cat/Felicia Hardy would be a great fit for her. Going the Ultimate Spider-Man route and making Hardy a little older than Spidey would be an exciting fit for the new rebooted franchise. It would be a lot of fun to see her dig her claws into, and eventually falls for, the extremely youthful hero.

J. JONAH JAMESON: George Clooney

I know that this actor is the least likely to take this role, especially after being apart of the movie that almost sank superhero films (BATMAN & ROBIN), but he would be a great outside-the-box choice for JJJ. He would bring the right amount of bluster and humor to the part. It could be very much in line with the type of work that he does for the Coen Bros. while also bringing a sense of weariness for this world of superheroes.

ROBBIE ROBERTSON: Andre Braugher

Braugher is the secret weapon of the television sitcom BROOKLYN NINE-NINE and it would be amazing to see him verbally spar with Clooney’s Jameson in the Daily Bugle newsroom. He would also bring a lot of warmth and compassion for Spider-Man and their new photographer/web-designer, Peter Parker. He’s just so good, you guys.

GWEN STACY: Chloe Grace Moretz

The only way to top the electric chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone is to cast equally electric performers in their place. I don’t quite know how Holland is going to play Peter Parker, but you can bet on fireworks if you cast Hit-Girl as Gwen Stacy. Here you have the chance to do several movies and build towards the character’s finale that TH AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 ruined. Moretz would slay this part and be a great romantic foil for Holland.

MARY JANE WATSON: Bella Thorne

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN movies never quite got around to including Mary Jane and it would be cool to see this new franchise introduce the character the same way they did in the comics. Aunt May constantly is trying to set Peter up on a date with her friend’s niece (or something to that effect) and Peter is not about it. Eventually he does come fact-to-face with Mary Jane and she tells him “Face it tiger. You just hit the jackpot.” Bella Thorne seems like she could knock that out of the park.

NORMAN OSBORN: Damian Lewis

One thing that the last iteration of Spider-Man tried to do was create a villain operating from the shadows in Norman Osborn and his company, Oscorp. Unfortunately they completely ruined that by killing Norman off in the beginning of the second film and having Oscorp have a vault of super villain costumes and tech just waiting to be put on. Here you have a chance to do this story-line right. You do a slow burn with Norman and you cast Damian Lewis as this growing menace to Peter Parker. Lewis would be amazing. Just watch his work in HOMELAND and tell me he wouldn’t be the perfect fit for this tortured, and torturing, character.

HARRY OSBORN: Cameron Monaghan

002

After playing the prototype Joker on GOTHAM, playing a more conflicted and sympathetic character would be a piece of cake for Monaghan. He also looks a lot like Harry from the comics and is a dead ringer for the son of Damian Lewis. It would also be a lot of fun to see him pal around with Tom Holland’s Peter in school. A smaller part than Harry has played in this franchise in the past, but one with a lot of potential in future installments.

FLASH THOMPSON: Dylan Minnette

Dylan Minnette

Minnette has been on quite the roll lately. I’ll always remember him as Jack’s son on the last season of LOST, but he has turned in some very solid work the last few years with PRISONERS and GOOSEBUMPS. It would be great to see him play the posturing bully, Flash Thompson, while also imbuing him with a vulnerability that will eventually turn him into Peter Parker’s friend.
