A new international trailer has arrived for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and it has a ton of new footage and information!
Here is the trailer:
-“I know all about waiting… For my family.” Either Abrams is playing a very inspired game of faking out the audience or Rey is the offspring of Han Solo and Princess Leia. It lines up with what the promotional materials have hinted at so far: Rey is force sensitive. Maybe the reason that Luke Skywalker is missing and Rey is abandoned on Jakku is that all of the Jedi and potential Jedi are in hiding… but from what or who?
-We now have confirmation that BB-8 does not belong to Rey or Finn, who we’ve seen him saddled with so far. This little guy probably belongs to Poe Dameron, who appears to be a captive of the First Order for a some of the film. Hopefully they are reunited. Hopefully it feels so good.
-The movie looks preposterously beautiful. he shot of the moisture vaporators against the horizon feels like the most quintessential Star Wars shot we’ve seen from this movie. The shot of the incoming TIE Fighters against the setting sun of Jakku is one of the most haunting, elegant visuals we’ve seen from the entire franchise. There also seems to be a real David Lean kick to the cinematography. A lot of big, expansive shots where the characters are surrounded by incredible scenery. I can’t wait for the rest of this feast to be served to my eyes.
-Finn & Rey have their formal introductions on the Millennium Falcon. I’m guessing that this scene occurs after a lot of what we’ve seen of them on Jakku. That has to mean that they get into some danger pretty immediately after meeting up if they don’t know each others name’s.
-I got goosebumps seeing Han, Leia, C-3PO, and the rest of the resistance in some sort of command center. I wonder what Threepio’s red arm is all about!
-I love all of the different camera angles that they use in the X-Wing dogfight sequence.
-Chewie looks like he sets off some sort of explosive device! Not much more to say about that, but I love me some Chewbacca!
-Kylo Ren’s cross-guard lightsaber is very cool and there is nothing in this trailer as tantalizing as the moment when he brings the blade to Rey’s neck. This guy seems to mean business. I’m very worried for our stalwart heroes…
STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS opens on December 18th.
