King-kong (1)

Deadline and Variety report that John Goodman and Thomas Mann have boarded the ever-expanding cast of KONG: SKULL ISLAND. They join the previously announced Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, Toby Kebbell, John C. Reilly, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, and the incomparable Samuel L. Jackson.

Mann is coming off of a great turn in ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL and definitely has a bright career ahead of him. Goodman is wonderful and belongs in every single movie ever.

Deadline also provided us with the first synopsis for the film:

The story is about a man (Hiddleston) who travels to the mythical island and home of the king of the apes. A team of explorers ventures inside what they find to be a treacherous island.

The original KING KONG is one of the best movies ever made and Peter Jackson’s (fairly) recent remake is… Well, it’s destined to be brought up in one of our more popular columns here at Filmthusiast in the not too distant future.
