September ended on a high note thanks to a record breaking opening and strong holdovers.
With four films opening wide and two strong holdovers from last weekend, it should help end September on a high note at the box office.

Sam Smith’s theme song for SPECTRE, Writing’s On the Wall, was released today and it doesn’t quite stack up against the super agent’s other title tracks.

Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS is one of the biggest cinematic disappointments of the last decade for me. Despite looking fabulous, PROMETHEUS was a tedious and uninspired return to the ALIEN franchise. It was a mixed bag critically, but managed to make enough cash to ensure a sequel. We’ve been threatened with that sequel for the last few years. Now we have a name for that threat.
