Yahoo! has brought us the first look at Michael Fassbender in next year’s ASSASSIN’S CREED… and he looks pretty great!

The first look also includes new details such as the revelation that Fassbender isn’t playing a character established in any of the numerous games, but a brand new character named Callum Lynch. Lynch, in typical Creed fashion, is hooked up to a machine that allows him to relive his ancestor’s experiences.

Yahoo! describes the plot as such:

Lynch discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.

Sounds like an ASSASSIN’S CREED movie to me. I’m a huge fan of the games and the open worlds that they provide you to operate within. The biggest flaws of these games are that the stories never quite live up to their potential. I think that having the movie be reminiscent of the games, yet telling a completely different story is the best possible way to adapt it. The future story-line from the games could use some serious streamlining and that could pave the way for really beefing up the stuff in the past.

After all… Nothing is true and everything is permitted.
