Deadline is reporting that Alfre Woodard is joining the cast of next year’s LUKE CAGE. Woodard is a major get for any production, so I can’t wait to see how her “powerful woman in local politics” factors into Cage’s life.

One of the year’s most unexpected joys was watching Netflix’s DAREDEVIL when its thirteen episode first season was dropped all at once in April. It immediately washed the poor taste of the 2003 movie out of everyone’s mouth and finally delivered a faithful adaptation of a fan favorite character. With DAREDEVIL, Netflix announced that their Marvel shows were going to be very different from the hit-and-miss AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. that was airing on ABC.

I love that Marvel and Netflix are really taking these properties seriously by hiring the best actors for the job. If the article is correct and Woodard turns out to be a villain, she joins the ranks of Vincent D’Onofrio and David Tennant. Not a bad club to be apart of.
